The kind of words we use to describe our eating habits greatly impact our relationship with food.
⁣
Preparing and eating nutritious food shouldn’t be a chore that we need a break from, and enjoying a less nutritious meal or snack when we feel like it isn’t a sin we should feel guilty about.
⁣
We’re taught from the very beginning that broccoli is “good” and has to be forced down and finished in order to get to the delicious “bad” ice-cream that we eat while being looked at disapprovingly by the powers-that-be. It’s no wonder that we grow up trying to avoid all the “healthy crap” while consuming whole chocolate bars in the dark kitchen and then dealing with the guilty aftermath.

We should not be apologizing for enjoying whatever we choose to eat regardless of its nutrition portfolio.
⁣
Perhaps when we start to perceive different foods stripped of “good” and “bad” labels, our bodies will naturally begin to crave the ones that give us more energy, better health, and a stronger physique. We will also be able to enjoy the ones that don’t occasionally without an ounce of guilt, because the truth is; nobody can or is expected to eat “perfectly” all the time.

One of the ideas I suggest to my clients for dealing with this situation is that sometimes a little goes a long way.

One or two cookies in the middle of a day of mindful, wholesome meals can be the key to long term adherence to healthier eating habits and freedom from food guilt.

Diet starts tomorrow.

Inside each one of us, there is a tiny perfectionist procrastinator with a fear of commitment.
⁣
We put it off as long as possible, and finally take the plunge, starting off on pure adrenaline. We then try to honor our intentions to a point where any little setback makes us feel ashamed, and one major binge translates into total failure.
⁣
So we quit, going back the whole way we’d come forward, and then vow to make a new commitment when we’re “ready” or until the next fad diet comes along.
⁣
But what if instead of starting over we kept going at half speed? What if we go back to eating cake for breakfast every day but without the whipped cream? Then after a while we have a smaller piece? And in 6 months we are having it every other day?
⁣
Right this minute, you can choose to take the stairs instead of the elevator, to stop at one piece of chocolate instead of the whole bar, to have oatmeal and fruit for breakfast even if you know you’re going to have pizza for lunch.
⁣
The only commitment you need to make is not to wait. Start small. Change one habit at a time. Believe in falling, not failing.
⁣

This one just screams summer: the juicy mangoes, spicy chicken, crunchy cashews, and grilled corn are like a breezy July afternoon on a plate.

⭐️Epic Summer Chicken Salad⭐️
Chicken breasts (rubbed with your favorite spicy seasoning then grilled)
Mango (eweis if you’re in Egypt)
Freshly grilled corn
Avocado, sliced
Mixed greens
Dry roasted cashews
Cherry tomatoes, sliced
Cucumber
Lemon juice
Olive oil
Oregano
Fresh parsley, minced
⁣
⭐️Directions⭐️
1- Slice chicken into thin strips
2- Add a bed of mixed greens and top with avocado, corn, tomatoes, sliced or chopped mango and cucumber.
3- Add cashews
4- Drizzle with dressing made with olive oil, oregano, lemon juice and minced parsley
