My twinlets turned two last week! Time sure does fly (although I can’t really say that about the first year). We had a small family birthday party in the afternoon, so I decided to go for an appetizer theme; food people could eat while dodging rogue helium balloons and excited toddlers.
Two weeks prior I’d eagerly gone through my Pinterest food folders. I found lots of incredibly cute party finger food in tiny plastic containers in various shapes, so I went out and bought 200 of them. I also decided to throw in a huge platter of sandwiches because the tiny food may not look as cute to hungry people at lunchtime.I was finally going to make my pinned dreams come true.
I should mention that I was lucky enough to have a huge and delicious contribution from my aunt Hala, who is one of the world’s best cooks. She doesn’t read this blog by the way, so I’m not exaggerating.
The big birthday feast:
I made both burgers and fried chicken sandwiches, with condiments and different toppings people add themselves.
Mini pizzas.
These were my favourite; small cups of French fries with ketchup at the bottom. No need to get your hands messy.
Mini chicken skewers in cups with peanut satay sauce at the bottom.
Mini spaghetti bolognese cups.
Cheese tortellini skewers with pesto dip.
Vegetable spring rolls with sweet chili sauce.
My grandmother’s green salad with fruit and almonds.
My mother in law’s strawberry trifle.
Tant Hala’s mini shawarma wraps and huge selection of Lebanese appetizers.
